Membergeddon: The £300k Nightmare

March 31st, 2009 at 11:14 pm

The big news: There’s a £300k bomb about to go off, a little thing I like to call Membergeddon. Poor MPs *cough*

A document claiming to list all the receipts of all the MPs is a Guidoesque wet dream, but the Sleaze agenda isn’t going away by itself, and it certainly won’t go away with a excreable promise to be ‘whiter than white’.

The restless media’s focus has turned to MP’s expenses and the sad, pitiful reality is that since the internet took off this day was inevitable.  The information cannot be hidden forever – and lo, it came to pass: It was not.

My advice is to get it over and done with as soon as possible. No excuses, no protests – face up to it and get it sorted out once and for all. The status quo cannot continue and it makes me angry that Nick Clegg didn’t continuously hammer this point over and over again since becoming leader. Still, with so much to be angry about it’s hard to know where to begin with this Government. Civil Liberties? Destroying the economy? Sleaze? Incompetence? We’re literally spoilt for choice. Every outrage causes us to forget the previous one and we never manage to build momentum behind any one particular position. *sigh*

Still, considering £10 worth of porn has done more damage to this Government than anything else they’ve done, it seems the answer might be in the £300k ticking timebomb.

The New Home

March 31st, 2009 at 9:48 pm

Welcome to charlottegore.com, the new (and final) home of my attempts to become Lib Dem Blog of the Year.

Sadly, as of now, I don’t appear on the Wikio rankings, I don’t have any Google Page Rank and no-one links to me. But it’s all good – I’ve crawled my way up before and I’ll crawl my way up again.

So what’s new, apart from actually having a design and a domain name now?

Very little after all that, except now I’m going to be categorising my posts into one of the following sections: Ideology; Policy;  Communications;  Current Affairs; Off Topic. Each of these sections have their own sub-sections, but don’t worry about that for now – the idea is to make categories useful by narrowing them down a bit, and organising things a bit more logically.

These categories should give you an idea of the areas I intend to cover. Returning to an old favourite in Communications, and branching into a whole new area in Policy.

Finally, the plan is to be better. It’s vague, I know, but I wanted to put it out there regardless. Be Better.

So welcome, update your bookmarks, pick up the new feed, sit back, relax, and prepare to either nod vociferously, bang your head against your keyboard, leap in delight or gouge your own eyeballs out. I’m a damn liberal – what you do’s up to you.

Meanwhile, I’m busy trying to import my old blog here, get a blog roll going and then the miserable business of trying to get the old blog shut down pronto. Wish me luck…

Hello you. I'm a semi-professional writer and this is my blog about politics and pop culture.

There's a Twitter feed as well.

You can email, too.
