You should also check out Cobden’s Comments especially. There are others but they’re a little bit less open about their politics (they’re probably more natural politicians than I am) so I can’t really point them out for fear of embarrassing them.. which is annoying.

Tom Papworth is a good guy too, but hasn’t been writing very much of late. Tristan Mill is, again, another strongly libertarian writer but posts very infrequently. (I think this is why I have this particular niche in the Lib Dem Blogosphere sewn up, so to speak). Oh, can’t forget Jock either, although the way he writes about libertarianism is sort of hardwired to appeal to lib dems.

Then there’s a whole bunch of what can only be described as ‘northern liberals’ coming up through the ranks who are far more in tune with the JS Mill model of liberalism – it makes them a lot more pro-freedom and less trusting of the state than the ‘traditional’ lib dem approach although they don’t identify as libertarian at all. There’ll be progress on this front later but can’t say too much about that now (not my secret to blab)

Do you know of any other even vaguely ‘libertarian’ Lib Dems, or are you the only one? I’m genuinely curious.

If you do, it might be an idea to provide a few links.

The only Lib Dems I seem to encounter come across as the usual tiresomely predictable state-worshipping leftists.

It would stand up so much better as a half-truth if you claimed it was actually Glen Matlock; Sid-er-nee didn’t join the Pistols until April ’77…
