Wikio Top 10 Lib Dem Blogs, June 2009

June 5th, 2009 at 1:04 am

New Wikio Blog Rankings out today. Wikio measure the number of links within RSS feeds over the last 10 months (with more recent links being more ‘valuable’ so to speak.

Like last month, I thought I’d list the Top 10 Lib Dem blogs that make it into the Top 100. Barnstorming new entry into the Top 100 for Mark Reckons, who has had an insanely good month making a huge splash on the blogosphere very quickly.  Jonathan Calder sneaks back into the Top 30. In general a great month for Lib Dem blogs, no doubt in large part due to the very Wikio Friendly activities of Lib Dem Voice recently (Daily 2×2 posts and Sunday Memes).

In other Wikio news, Jennie Rigg’s new blog is starting to overtake her old blog, too – about time too – I suspect she should get them merged into one so she can get back into this Lib Dem Top 10! :)

I also seem to have had a pretty good month myself, which is nice. I’d like to say thank you!

1 (7) Liberal Democrat Voice Non Mover
2 (29) Liberal England Climbs 2
3 (31) Quaequam Blog! Climbs 6
4 (34) Peter Black AM Climbs 7
5 (37) Charlotte Gore Climbs 13
6 (42) People’s Republic of Mortimer Falls 4
7 (44) Himmelgarten Cafe Climbs 2
8 (55) Mark Reckons Climbs 80
9 (75) Stephen Linlithgow’s Journal Falls
10 (78) Liberal Bureaucracy Falls 3

*I regret to say that I missed out Stephen Linlithgow’s blog last month. No excuse. Sorry Stephen.

If you really want to advertise the wider LD ‘sphere try looking a bit deeper – even the top20 or 25 will turn up some gems and do a good service. The top ten are pretty well set – it’s those just beneath the surface which need that extra push.

I have a particular fondness for Caron’s Musings, which I blush at advertising, but which I think is on a bit of a roll (she won me over when I learnt from her that Ross Brawn went to Reading School).

Problem is Oranje, there’s no way to find out the next 10 or 15 short of manually searching each and every blog to see might have a ranking. :S

    “Mark Reckons – Climbs 80″
Why am I not surprised? Well done Mark and Charlotte!

Oranjepan the top ten are hardly ‘pretty well set’ – Charlotte just overtook Alix Mortimer and Costigan Quist, and Mark Reckons just jumped way up into the leader board. It’s a meritocracy – you just need to be writing something that people want to link to.

    Congrats, guys.

Thanks for keeping track of all this Charlotte and congratulations on being a prime number!

I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw the rankings last night. Mind you, looking at the methodology they use (weighting links from other blogs based on their own ranking) I suppose the number of links I got towards the end of May made a big jump for me inevitable.

Now, as the 8th most influential Lib Dem blogger, should I use my newly acquired power for good or evil….

I thought you may like to know you inspired me to write a similar post for my local blogs. Call me sad – I went all the way down to over #8000.
