Eh all, I love this blog. Thank you Charlotte. I found it looking up some links to 'vent my anger' against the Con-Dem Govt. Cheers.
I have to say that was because the maze of 'Leftie' sites left me frustrated. Not because I am not 'left'. Just because they are inaccesible. Few speaking to each other. If you support the cuts, by the left's current record of organisation you have lttle to worry about. Hope that changes soon. For your sake and mine.

Just had a chance to look up some of your links Jock. Thanks. To think here is little peasant me ranting with an Oxford intellectual. What am I like? I do mean that and I am not being condescending old man. It's just I amaze myself sometimes.

You and I agree on so much it seems. At least that there is something very wrong 'In the state of Denmark'. However when it comes to the cause and cure we seem to be on different planets.

'In the Austrians’ terms, human nature is to prefer “leisure” to “work”,' Yep. So true. It is a basic human need.
Maybe not leisure but our own free time. To be who we are. Time to develop and follow ourselves. Not confined to some 'Fat Cats' cage 9 till 5. Whether it be the state or private capital. They are both the same in my book right now. Both run by gangsters.

You are so wrong I still feel.

The free, little regulated, market brought us to this. Or if you prefer 'Free Social Enterprise'. I read stuff recently about the development of UK society. The Guardian of course. I forget the link. Sorry. About how in the 12th century the percentages of work to leisure were about 15% work the rest leisure. All be it bad teeth and disease. Bring the harvest in and party. By the 16th century I think it was something like 25% work. By the industrial Revolution....... well you get the bleak picture.

I want to be busy and productive. Like you I imagine I do not want to work till I drop.

I read your frustraton about being associated with the right wing nutters. Please do not be surprised when you still try to apologise for, temper or explain the very system that made them that way.

It's the market. Pure and simple. The rich get richer. The poor get poorer. It is designed that way. For the past thousand years. Marx was just one clever old bugger who pulled the threads together. Boils and all.

Give me the 'Dictatorship of the Proletariat'(every man, and woman, 'Lenin') to the 'Dictatorship of Rupert Murdoch' anyday. Sometime soon.

First we have to go for something you have the advantage on me. The virulent all pervasive right wing press. To think they call this an equal society.

Sorry for the inadequate link below. Blame it on my state education.

The alternative would not take much

Eh Jock, at least on that last post we can agree. Me too sometimes in the wee hours.
Though I could only wish more of us could summon such intellect and passion at any time, never mind 4 in the morning.

Quote-
I am passionate about the power of social enterprise to take over, through mutual, “voluntary” (as in uncoerced, not necessarily unpaid) organisation, to address all the needs the state currently believes it addresses, without the concomitant pillage and corruption it necessarily involves. I do not believe a true “social enterprise” of fifteen million members (what the Big Society Network envisages) can exist for example. But my one hope is that “the Krays” as you put it actually understand what it is they are creating. For if they say to one group that “yes, you are worthy of taking over this particular aspect of the state” they can actually refuse any voluntary mutual action in other areas, even if they had hoped to retain control over that other aspect of the state.
-Unquote.

Oh my. Copying and pasting that helped alot. Made me read it again for the umpteenth time. First time I could not believe what I was reading.
For the record Jock those lines are exactly what I meant about your misplaced good intentions. Though I despair when you seem to quote how inequality, economic or otherwise, can lead to a fairer and better life for all. Because that is how I read it. Sorry if I am wrong in that. You ramble more than me poor sod.

It is evident from your posts you know and accept 'The Kray's' do not live in an English country village vacuum. They are where they are because corporate international capital put them there. They know that. So do you. People choose to sup with Murdoch and the like. Or do you you think that particular odious apology for humanity actually has your's or my best interest at heart. If a word of Cameron or Clegg's surreal phrases about 'caring' were genuine do you think he would permit it?

As I tried to say before. I will put it another way. If we all lived in 'Hobbiton' (I for one would love to)maybe you have some good heartfelt ideas. More utopian than Marxism if I may say. A wish list. As it is your good intentions just give a very good intellectual cover for the 'Dark Riders'. Not patronising I hope. Tolkien taught me as much as Marx and Engels.

Unemployment and exploitation is an essential tool of your free market enterprise. It could not prosper without it.

Ok so how do we regulate it? Got it. Instead of the state put me in charge. No that's been tried before.

Just how can a 'Liberal' state survive in isolation?

Yeah - I think LDV holds anything with more than three links in too. Or rather, simply tells you it's an invalid post, I think. So I've often ended up doing multiple posts to get round it. Better to "moderate" than just refuse I say, but at 4.20 am it's a bit much to expect such prompt service (or are you still on the other side of the pond?)

But my one hope is that “the Krays” as you put it actually understand what it is they are creating. should read "NOT understand".

Thanks for the clarification Charlotte! I didn't really think you were practicing any form of censorship!
